Casting appreciation gif.

This seriously pisses me off because TWO men of the “correct” ethnicity/race were asked to play the role of Khan. I don’t remember their names because this back when Into Darkness was in casting yo but they BOTH DECLINED.

So there’s a HUGE difference between “well, we asked the best in the business and they both said no, so we should go with another actor of the ‘incorrect’ race who is also very well suited for the role” and doing what the Hunger Games did which is literally only let white girls audition for Katniss.

When actors decline there is fuckall you can do. It’s shitty, no doubt, that Khan ended up being white, but BC did a great job in the role, while knowing he was third choice. I won’t begrudge him for taking it, and I won’t begrudge the casting crew for going with him after their best actors declined.

^ Bless.

TWO WHOLE ACTORS OF COLOR in the whole of fine actors?

They tried so so hard.

Come on y’all there are only two actors of color who could have played Khan so they totally tried.

It’s 2013.

Okay and now I feel like I need to tumblr savior Khan AND Star Trek because I am real done with all of it.

Thanks for ruining another thing I love internet.

PS
TWO WHOLE BROWN ACTORS…..THEY MUST HAVE GONE THE DISTANCE TO CAST SOMETHING APPROPRIATELY OR EVEN NEAR TO CANON…

Also FYI POC actors who are good and yanno Brown are really hard to find. They tend to turn into birds and fly away at the chance to play an Iconic role in any iconic movie. They get scared and leave it to the White folks because clearly when it’s White people, it’s always about the role and never about the color of their skin.

Right?

…………………..

Ugh.

Coconut Oil and Me:

I’ve been using coconut oil on my face, nails, and as deodorant for like the past…2 weeks? And the following has happened:

  • My face, especially my nose and chin, have broken out. I’ve washed my face every other day before bed, and applied the coconut oil nightly. My skin was smooth, but I’ve never had this many pimples at once, not even when my period was around.
  • My hand eczema also broke out, around my nail beds where the coconut oil was applied twice a day, morning and night, to help with my cuticles. Not enough to be painful, but enough to be annoying.
  • My Hidradenitis suppurativa came back with a small vengeance and a hole is back where the old one was (under my left armpit), almost the size of a quarter currently.

Or maybe it is, idk. So I’m going to stop using it for a little while and see if everything clears up.
